  Charleville's Cosmos Centre  
Charleville, in Outback Queensland, is the ideal place on the planet to observe the magnificent of the Sagittarius arm of the Milky Way. With a spectacularly clear night sky, unaffected by light and industrial pollution, visitors have the opportunity to star gaze as never before.

The Queensland Heritage Trails Network contributed $2.5M towards the $3M project to redevelop and expand the former Skywatch Centre into a dynamic attraction with popular visitor appeal.

By night visitors have the opportunity to enjoy a guided tour of the night sky with experienced guides and powerful Meade telescopes. By day an interactive display area contains two movie presentations and seven interactive displays, plus a sun filter to enable visitors to view the sun through the telescopes.

A sophisticated sun filter joins a range of equipment and powerful telescopes used for viewing the stars and our solar system.

Attractions and Facilities
BY NIGHT
Cosmos Observatory: Experienced guides take visitors have the opportunity ot view distant stars, planets, star clusters through three powerful Meade 12 inch telescopes. In April 2005 the Cosmos Centre will take delivery of a new 20 inch telescope that will see deeper into space. Bookings essential for evening sessions.

BY DAY
Cosmos Theatre: The Cosmos Theatre is the venue for two movie presentations - Aboriginal Dreamtime Cosmology: This animated movie relates the store of the rainbow serpent and the creations of the planet Earth.
Chain of Wonders: is a mini imax experience on the formation of the Universe. Hosted by two outback characters a combination of excellent animation and film reveals the secrets of the Universe.

Interactive displays: Seven interactive displays explore the history of astronomy through the Ages.

Sun Filter: During the day visitors have the opportunity to view the sun through the telescopes using a sophisticated sun filters. Bookings required.

Cafe and souvenir area is also available.
