New life has been breathed into Rockhampton’s historic Customs House, creating a true “tourism hub” for the Central Queensland city.
Rockhampton’s historic Customs House has been completely renovated – its grand sandstone exterior preserved and its interiors repainted.
The ground floor of Customs House houses a new “Spirit of Rockhampton” exhibition, which introduces visitors to the city’s history, Customs House, Quay, river and people of Rockhampton today. The exhibition is located adjacent to the Visitor Centre, which has also been refurbished.
As well as being a spectacular historic site, Rockhampton’s Customs House is both a tourist attraction, as well as a place for visitors to obtain information and advice; book and commence local tours; and to meet the locals.
Customs House is located on the banks of the Fitzroy River in the city centre. A riverside walk connects the city’s many beautiful heritage buildings. |
